Authentic Italian Pizza is known for its thin, crispy crust with a slighthly chewy texture. The crust is traditionally made with high quality flour, water, yeast, salt and olive oi. It’s often cooked in a wood-fired oven which gives a unique smoky flavor and helps achieve a perfect crispy crust.

The toppings are simple yet flavorful, typically featuring ingredients like San Margano tomatoes for the sauce, fresh mozarella cheese, basil leaves and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil.

Authentic Italian pizza is all about using high quality and fresh ingredients and allowing the flavor to shine through without overwhelming the palate.

4 pizza crust approx. 12 inches diameter

Ingredients (for crust)

600 mL of warm water
7 cups (1kg) all purpose flour
2 teaspoons (7-8 grams) of dried yeast.
6 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
1.5 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons sugar

Ingredients (for sauce)

2 cans (800 g) of whole peeled San Marzano tomatoes (or any high quality canned tomatoes)
4 cloves of garlic minced
4 table spoons of extra virgin olive oil
4 tea spoons of dried oregano
Salt and pepper to taste

Ingredients (for toppings)

Tomato sauce
Mozzarella cheese
Fresh Basil leaves
Olives oil
Olives, mushroom (optional)

Instruction for Sauce

*In a large sauce pan, heat the loive oil over medium heat
*Add the minced garlic to the sauce pan and saute the garlic for about 1 minute, or until fragrant
*Crush the whole peeled tomatoes by fork or hand and add them to the sauce pan
*Add salt, pepper and dried oregano and stir well
*Let the sauce to simmer, then reduce the heat to low and allow it to cook gently for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens slightly
*Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning if necessary
*Remove the sauce from the heat and let it cool slightly before using it

Instruction for pizza

* In a medium bowl add warm water and yeast.
* In another bowl add the measured flour,salt and sugar (give it a good mix) then add the water and yeast mix and start preparing your dough
* Knead for 10 to 15 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic (you can add some flour while kneading to avoid the stickiness in the bowl)
* Grease up another bowl with some olive oil and put the dough inside, apply oil on the dough from each side avoid getting dry surface
* Cover the bowl and put the dough aside to let it rest for at least four or five hours.
* Preheat the oven to about 400°F, or about 200°C.
* Divide the dough in 4 pieces
* Roll each dough into a 12-inch disc. It is your choice to decide how thick you want your pizza to be and place it on oiled baking sheet or a pizza pan
* Add the sauce and desired toppings, leaving a border around the edges
* Carefully place the pizza pan or baking sheet in the oven
* Bake for 10-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and melted
* Remove from the oven, slice and serve hot. Enjoy your authentic Italian pizza!!
